Pay-per-click Advertising

Firstly, let me explain what is pay per click advertising. As seen from the screen shot below, I have boxed up in red a column. This space is where those paid advertisements will appear in google.
This is another form of paid advertising online. If I were to advertise using keywords, “Make Money Online”, this will show up in the right of the google search result page.

However as the name itself suggest, “Pay-per-click” means you as the advertiser, using this space to advertise yourself on google, will have to pay google the advertisement fee. This fee is based on pay per click, which means that you will need to pay whenever someone click on your advertisement. So take note to advertise effectively or you might just end up paying a lot of advertisement fees but not getting the sales you want.

Therefore you have to choose the keyword carefully, in such a way that is targeted at your intended audience. For example, instead of using keyword like “Make Money”, you could narrow it down to something that you are targeting at like “Make Money Blogging”. In this way, you have captured only those who are relevant and interested in what you have got to sell them, and these people who click on your site are more potential buyers.

Before deciding on the keyword, you could go to google keyword tool to check on the search volume of that particular keyword on google. Higher search volume will mean that more people are looking for that particular niche and this is worth going into. You can find this free google tool here: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. I will be covering more on the google keyword tool in my next posting.

Beside this tool, another additional tool you can use is the spyfu tool: http://www.spyfu.com/
This is a very powerful tool whereby you can spy on what your competitors are using as their keywords and just copy the right keywords to achieve fast and effective results like your competitors!

The above is the results shown for keyword “make money online”. As you can see, it shows you the cost per click that these competitors are paying for keywords above, between $0.78 to even as high as $3.07. The more popular the keyword is, the more it cost.

It will also show you the number of advertisers. The more advertisers indicates that this niche is worth going into, however might also mean that it is highly competitive and you have to offer something that is better than what your competitors is giving.

You will also find that it will list the top 5 competitors who are advertising using the keywords and click into their website to check them out.
Hope this information is useful to you in searching for your effective keywords and look out for my next article where I will guide you on how to use the google keyword tool to effectively study the right keywords to use. :)
